Seriously, how often does this happen?

The King Has Arrived.

Of course it's an elf.

No where near as badass as Cacame.

Anyhow, as he's an elf, i can't seem to assign him with rooms. What the heck's going on? How do I give my king what he demands before he whines and tells me to stop cutting down trees like a wimp?

Dfusion utility should allow you to assign things for other race, look on the community mod list at the top of the "modding" sub-forum. Dfusion's "Friendship" tool should allow you to allocate things for a non-dwarf.

Also, he apparently is 284 years old, even though it's only year 263 of world gen.

HE IS OLDER THAN TIME ITSELF.

I run very short worldgens. Every one of my migrants is older than the world.

Maybe he was a migrant from another world. The need to go somewhere after they pack up.
