How to increase crop yield?
« on: May 26, 2011, 05:01:41 pm »

Is there a way to increase the amount plants gained per tile for farming? CLUSTERSIZE only affects herbalism apparently...

Fertilizer?

As far as mods go, you could make a free potash reaction and fertilize that way, or I suppose you could make a reaction that takes a stack of plants and turns it into a bigger stack of plants. For the latter, you could even have it take a stack of one sort of plants and give a stack of another sort so that the game wouldn't just run the reaction many times on the same stack.

As far as modding the plants directly to produce more per tile, no, that's a skill-based effect. You'd have to mod the planting skill or the quality probabilities, which is impossible as those things aren't in the raws.

You could decrease the grow time to get an increase in the use of your space.

Also, you could mod creature_standard.txt so your dwarfs learn the planting skill really fast.

It is fine. I'm going to make a custom reaction so that my wheat can be milled into 20 flour each.
