Try installing this in Ubuntu. It might do the trick.

Update: it transiently detects some wifi (not mine, despite the fact the router is next to me, and despite the fact it works fine under 10.10 and windows).

I'm wondering if it's some speed problem, rather than a wifi card detection problem per se. For what I've seen around 11.04 has plenty of both

PD: I've already installed that package, to no avail. I was considering trying an older one

2PD: for the record, after the previous post I gave up on debian mint and went back to Ubuntu 11.04, since the issue seems to be the same anyway.

3PD: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/bcmwl/+bug/732677    seems the problem is with the latest batch of broadcom controllers (or at least, that some people are having somewhat simmilar problems, and attribute it to the latest batch of broadcom controllers). Which would explain why the 10.10 disk boot allows me to use the wifi. I was thinking maybe I could downgrade somehow?

4PD: which apparently is what that Francisco guy tried with success. Going to try it now

5PD: Didn't work, but then again I have a lot of clutter installed. Going to try again removing all extra crap
Doesn't seem to work... detects a WLAN_C4, which is more than what it did yesterday, but still no cigar. I dont know why it fails to detect mine either
