Conversation option about locations?
« on: May 23, 2011, 06:39:33 pm »

I've just suddenly started getting the option to ask about a location to certain people. It always seems to be a different location for each person an they always say they don't know anything about it. Is this a feature that hasn't been fleshed out yet or something?

Whenever I get that option, it's referring to that civ's capital city. Not sure what it means when everyone mentions somewhere different...

Relevant locations nearby, I think.

Surroundings refers to nearby locations.
Capital refers to capital.
I believe the topic is referring to asking people about their shop; always, they say: "I don't know much about it".

Ah, so it's about their shop? I see, that would explain a lot as I have only seen shopkeeps have this option in conversation.

I always thought that option was referring to some sort of group or local government or something. I thought I had seen it from some non-shopkeepers but maybe not... I kind of started ignoring it after hearing "I don't know much about it" for the 100th time.

In any case i think this is probably something related to the economy or something that isn't implemented yet. My guess is that the option will start serving some sort of purpose one some set of features (like markets, maybe) are completed.

It would be nice, I think, for them to at least say "This is a weapon shop".

I imagine it will eventually say something like:
"This shop is a weapon shop."
"In the year 934, Cogith Burnedgloves founded [weapon shop]."
Ask again, and you'll get various other trivia, like:
"This shop is a weapon shop."
"In the year 1051, the sword Burnedtasks the Tenebrous Dusks was forged by Epo Matchwhip".

They may talk about local supply and demand too.

I think, if you speak to a historical figure in a shop, they tell you when it was founded etcetera...
Although that was a few versions ago when they first came out. :P Haven't seen a historical figure in a shop in ages!

Actually, reading that post reminded me. Artifacts during world gen would be great. I'm tired of going in as a human adventurer to my old fort only to find "Bronzemothers, a small adamantine breastplate" or something >_>
