Frustrated by Marksdwarves
« on: May 16, 2011, 09:44:46 pm »

I've read the wiki advice on marksdwarves issues, but I still cannot get them to fire at monsters.  I just had a squad standing on the edge of a ditch right above a goblin hammerman and they did nothing. >:(

- They were equipped with crossbows
- The squad was assigned ammo (700 bolts) - and it listed some of them on the ammo page when the squad is pulled up there.
- The ammo is assigned for both combat and training use
- The ammo stockpile is not in all in bins
- I have at least 40 quivers constructed

I have posted squads to take shots at goblins or monsters five or six times now and have seen maybe four bolts fired.  The frustration from this is starting to get very annoying since there is no obvious problem.

I also note that getting squads to a specific spot (like a fortification port) is generally painful as well.  They tend to get within 2-3 squares and then stop and spare into space while the goblin squad walks by 10-12 spaces away on the far side of the fortification. >:(

A few dwarves appear to know how to use the archery range, but it appears the others just don't get it.
