Farm Plot question
« on: May 17, 2011, 10:10:57 am »

Heyo, so I've been trying to figure out why my farming hasn't been working at all, and I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this behavior.

I've got plots muddied just fine, and I've got a 4x4 farming plot. The first three squares from top left downwards are planted as normal, but none of my dwarves will continue planting the rest of the field.

Right up against that one, to the south, is another 4x4 plot and none of my farmers will touch that one, apparently.

I've got plenty of seeds, and labors are enabled... No 'plant seeds' jobs are showing up in the manager. I ended up using the designate-well-above-farm-room method of irrigation. Just now seeing that the hole for which is right above the bottom left square of the first plot, and top left square of the second (Changing the square properties from inside dark subterranean to inside light above ground.).... Would that be messing up the entire plots?

You got it. Underground crops grow on underground tiles, only. You might have a loo(k) at the plot tiles and see if the other ones not being planted might also be "Above Ground" now.

Also, make sure you've assigned crops for the current season, that you have seeds for the crops you've assigned, that the seeds are accessible from the farm plots, etc.

I guess that did it, yeah =s I rearranged the farm plots so none of them had any portion of it right under that little skylight. Seems like they'r being tended to finenow.  I guess the rest of the plot becomes unusable once one part of it's messed up o.o;;
