Is it just as simple as setting up an array of cage traps and hoping an eagle/ buzzard/ vulture flies in?

Yes. Not sure if they are all tameable, though, but if they are you can give a tame order on your kennel and someone'll feed the victim's loved ones any bit of food and that might tame them. Also, bamama ooma mamao.

Lol and here I was, thinking that the OP was yearning for female companionship... But of course this is the DF forum, where the only approved courtship methods are cage traps and magma...

Vultures and buzzards are 1 -kinda useless, especially buzzards, and are much easier to catch because they steal food. Just put a food barrel between rows of cage traps and your buzzard/vulture will be caught soon.

Giant eagles are much harder to catch. Just spam cage traps, and hope one comes soon.
