Reverse atom smashing?
« on: May 19, 2011, 09:13:43 pm »

Let's assume we have a bridge that raises towards an adjacent wall. If you place items on the lowered bridge, and then raise the bridge, what would happen to them? They would hit the wall and stop on the same tile as the raised bridge.

Raising bridges have one edge which turns into a wall.  Any object on the tiles which turn into a wall will be atomsmashed.  This happens regardless of whether there are walls or a ceiling over the bridge.  Any objects which are anywhere else on the bridge will be thrown up to 11 tiles in any random direction, but will not be atomsmashed, again no matter whether there are walls nearby or a ceiling overhead.

Even if there are no walls around, if something is on the part of the bridge that becomes wall-like, that object is crushed (assuming the bridge is not over its creature weight limit).

This can be used to throw "invaders" all over the place.

No! No! I will not massacre my children. Instead, I'll make them corpulent on crappy mass-produced quarry bush biscuits and questionably grown mushroom alcohol, and then send them into the military when they turn 12...

It's the fastest, exploity-est way to get rid of the million tons of rock that you'll mine out in a big fort.  And also junk crafts, poor quality furniture, excess blocks from mason training, two rebels dressed as stormtroopers, a Wookie and a Princess that are trying to escape, that kind of thing.
