World drowning device!
« on: May 13, 2011, 02:38:22 am »

I've been working on a chicken little machine on my current fortress recently, and I just recently decided that it's not complicated enough. Instead, the new plan, is to make an enormous, overhead cistern. Connected to a support by a lever. Bad siege = world flood. Or at least my site.

Should I? Will it actually drown enemies? How deep should I make it? How long until my framerate recovers afterward?

Also, not swapping water for magma, the whole thing is being made from rock salt blocks, and I'm working with pumps for the first time.

You can only drown siegers if you wall off the edges, because otherwisa water would leave the map and never have 7/7 depth. Don't know if flow can wash creatures away from the map, that would be cool as a non-lethal defensive weapon.
