I was thinking about making the world evolve and make inventions. I'll demonstrate what I mean with a fairly simple example: Castles (I don't mean castles would easy to implement, just easy to explain).
Let's for the sake of simplicity say that there are five types of castles, each one with it's own rules and map.
These castle types would be: Houses >> Fence >> Fort >> Castle >> Keep
For the sake of simplicity, let's give them these bonuses: +0 +1 +2 +3 +4
Now, how I see it, is that at the begining, everyone would start with "Houses". With some prerequsites, say a civilization has to be involved in a war, all those civilization would roll a die every year (1/100). When a civ. rolls a hundred, it gets upgraded to a "Fence". Now, other civs. continue rolling, but those who trade most with the lucky civ. get additional rolls (1/25). When a civ. succeds, it get's upgraded too. The trade bonuses get added up, and the Tier 1 civs. continue to roll to Tier 2. The process continues until all civs. are eliminated, or everyone is fully upgraided.
Also, it would be cool if we could have tech trees, so a West civ. gets upraided into "Fence", but Eastern gets upgraided into "Cerca", and they now compete with each other. I suppose there could be tools that would allow people here to design tech trees.
I suppose, it would also make sense, to have as a prerequisite a person in a civ. who has enough stats to be an genuis or an architect, who would become rich and noble after the upgrade. Bonus points if the stuff I described, makes it as a feature creep, and infuriated people with a 30 month release cycle.
I saw a lot of people complain that Suggestions thread stopped being original and producing new ideas. Did I manage to say something new?
