Backtrack linux video issues

So it finally happened to me, got the black screen of doom whenever I load up backtrack. Err what was the favorite hotkey to use to go commandline and what should I do?
The graphics card is a Intel 4500mhd, using backtrack 5 kde 64bit.

Ctrl + Alt + F[1-6] will take you to a virtual terminal. Try killing X and restarting.
