No, they didn't battle each other.  Saadly.

But still.

The fort had an early visit by a flying, poison forgotten beast.  It floated around the chasm only scaring dwarves every now and then.  5 dwarven years later, it decided to attack.  It stopped by a wonderful pair of doors:

"The Forgotten Beast Anu has been happy lately.  He admired a fine tastefully arranged door lately"

And he waited.  I naturally thought he would break through and fun would ensue, so I sent in the dwarves.  The military took forever to get there, picking up their equipment and such.  And Anu kept admiring our wonderful, engraving surrounded door.  Months later, the military is still picking up equipment, and another forgotten beast joins the party.  Que a few days:  they're both standing side by side admiring the doors, just like old pals.

The military still wasn't there.  But there were enough.  I ordered the attack.

Three dwarves battled Anu, while three others fought the late visitor.  I was glad to find out that the deadly poison affected EVERYTHING, so the forgotten beasts poisoned each other and made the battle much easier.  All in all, a rotten, bloody, gory battle, but now the soldiers are all in their tightly closed Hospital beds getting treatment.  And they should be fine, the fort's doctors are pretty damn quick.
