Finding your slain adventurer's stuff
« on: May 04, 2011, 11:08:46 am »

Ever wish you could find your hard earned equipment for your next adventurer?

Have you?  Have any tricks or techniques that actually worked and got you your old stuff?  Ever find it by accident?

I think perhaps a revenge option would be a nice addition to adventure mode, not unlike reclaim.  Start with the quest to kill your last adventurer's murderer already in the queue.

It'd require said previous adventurer to have family, or at least close friends. Right now, the game just pops adventurers into the world without familial relationships.

Edit: Awesome idea, though. I'd be able to reenact something from Order of the Stick...

Well if your well known enough the killer of the adventurer will be able for a kill quest.
Just that the killer has to have people around to talk about it and the adventurer is known around the parts.

...Blanking. What does it remind you of?

I've had a few adventurers give in to pain and get killed when I thought they were going to escape--one by a dwarf in an abandoned fort, the other by bandits. (I don't even play adventure mode all that much!.) Even more embarrassing when they're flyers.
...Which, come to think of, both of those were. Not that this has anything to do with it; they were both goners once they gave in to pain.

oh shoot that's a scattering issue I was to busy reading into the family part. oh the solution to that one is before dying make the area scatter proof.
dropping all your items will still leave everything you own scattered.

Usually if I die inside a cave or something, all of my important stuff will be inside my backpack. I memorize the name of the cave, and then travel there with my new character. Most of the time, with enough looking, I can find my backpack and it will have pretty much all of my items in it. I'm not sure if the scattering takes items out of bags as well though, however, I've even found whole corpses that I collected in old backpacks of mine.
