Cavy Monster?

What exactly is a cavy monster? I just found one in my young-world gen. He was locked up in a completely abandoned fortress. I recruited him and he seems alright. However, it was a bit of a shock when the very first thing he does is to run off and scratch a spearman in the head, instantly decapitating him. I'm slightly scared to be honest.

So I've essentially got a demonic hamsterman? Interesting. Considering the way he's repetitively stabbing people in the lungs and slaughtering everything before I get to it I'd wager he's one of the nastier ones.

Why exactly did he spawn in a deserted keep as a prisoner though? And is there anyway I can take him back to "where he came from"?

I dunno.

You're REALLY, REALLY lucky to be able to recruit a demon. Demons will only allow you to recruit them if they're prisoners.

And this one's as tough as a *dump truck* and twice as big.

Any idea on where he would be if I happened to die? I checked Legends but it just mentioned the last few people he had fly-kicked.

No; cavies are, if I recall, guinea pigs. Guinea pigs are not hamsters.
Or capybaras. If you confuse a non-pygmy capybara with a non-giant guinea pig, I...I just don't know.

I think "cavy" always refers to a guinea pig in the DF Universe, but strictly speaking capybaras are cavies as well.

He might be the demon leader of a conquered/starved human civilization, and only survivor.  He might also be their prisoner.  I had an adventurer roll around with a golden demon he found loitering in the keep of an abandoned castle, the histories showed the demon was the last ruler of the human civ.
