Dear Goblins, please stop falling on your heads
« on: April 29, 2011, 03:39:55 pm »

Ugh, I set up a drop trap with various killing implements laid out below (spikes and marksdwarves behind fortifications). Why do so many goblins fall on their heads from a 2~5 z-level (i.e. should be non-fatal) drop and die of concussion before any of the rest kicks in?

Congrats, Psieye. This is the first time I've seen a derailed thread get put back on the rails.

Maybe they saw the traps and decided that landing on their heads was a less dwarfy way to die than go through/be trapped in that gauntlet.

They're like cats, throw them from low enough, and they don't get any injury from the fall, throw them from heigh enough and they can get into the right position to land safe and sound.

Unfortunalty, it appears that drop is in such a position that it's dangerous, and they don't have time to re position them selves.
