Is it possible to modify reaction in save?
« on: April 24, 2011, 02:39:44 am »

I want to simulate river trade (roast/cloth -> wood) - and I prefer to do it in existing save. Can I modify smelter reaction to
-requires cloth
-produces wood

it may be even hack like
-requires cloth & fuel
-produces 2xwood

Yes, but you have to go into the save file itself in the data/save folder.

And you have to change only existing entries, you cannot add one in a save game. Try modifying the reaction for some alloy you don't like. If you change the heading/name of the entry, that won't work either. So it will be called "MAKE_BRASS" or whatever reaction you overwrite.

Save editors can add new reactions? Didn't know that.

I swear by dfworldtinker http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=67059. Data Execution Prevention loves shooting down DF during world gen especially when I use 'Bob' to generate a world, so here and there I just update my current region. Also Also allows me to test things with established 'dwarves' who should have the resources right now to fiddle with it.

dfworldtinker also backs up the world, so if there were an earthshattering problem you could just revert.
