Favourite Speeches, Interviews, Addresses or Debates.
« on: April 10, 2011, 01:06:52 pm »

From the 4 minute concise to the 2 hour long intricate break down of the topic.  Post engaging, informative and revealing videos of note.  Content is not important, regardless if the views are contradictory or controversial, understanding and digestion of opposing views - with skepticism - can only be a good thing.

This is a great time to put a shoutout to the videos that finalized my atheism:

VERY long debates and talks (~10-15 hours or so total) - Everything to do with the intersection of religion and science.

No! No! I will not massacre my children. Instead, I'll make them corpulent on crappy mass-produced quarry bush biscuits and questionably grown mushroom alcohol, and then send them into the military when they turn 12...

George Washington's Farewell Address.

Sorry, but there's no video of him available.  Doesn't keep it from being one of my favorites.

I wanted to post a link to Mustafa Ataturk's thirty six hour speech, but there doesn't appear to be any transcripts of it outside of books.  There's not even a Wikipedia article for it, that I can find.

I don't know the formal name of it, but the Malcolm X "Who are you?" speech strikes a chord.  I am really proud about my western European ancestors and what they accomplished (despite their flaws and follies), and the thought of having that kind of thing erased, subdued- wow.  Every man deserves to be able to seek out his roots and learn about his forefathers, and when that record is interrupted, we're doing a disservice to history.
