I've got a Marksdwarf currently in the military, but he absolutely refuses to use the archery range.  I didn't notice this for a while, so for the longest time he just sparred with his crossbow, and is now a good hammerdwarf, while only a dabbling marksdwarf.  Other dwarfs will use the range, he is the only one who won't.  There are bone bolts in stock nearby, and I've even gone as far as making him the only dwarf not on duty in the barracks, and even locking him in won't force him to train.

EDIT: I decided to make him a hammerdwarf, but its still very odd.

I've always had that problem with Marksdwarves, I never figured it was a bug, they just were too lazy about it

Ive got this bug too. There is no concrete reason why the marksdwarf wouldnt train, but they constantly stand around the dquad leader doing nothing when there are plenty of empty targets and bolts lying around.

The problem persists when squads are split into lone soldiers.

Maybe he has no free hands, so he cant get bolts

... asked to use 2 weapons

Did your marksdwarves go through "martial trance" before they stopped training by any chance?
