Ok my guys hurt really bad so i stay while my men do the work but i check the bodies not one of them is the warlord so I'm there for three days
he has not returned. What do i do ?

This happened to me once. It was ridiculously thick fog (only 1 square of vision), and I was trying to kill this one bandit chick (Rope Necrostyles). I chopped both of Rope's arms off and one of my men chased her off into the fog, and I lost track of her because of that (she survived apparently). Sleeping, leaving the place and coming back, retiring and trying again didn't seem to bring her back, so I was forced to give up on the hunt.

Moral of the Story: Never send a bunch of boys to do a MAN'S job, even if the man in question is horribly wounded.

In the current version it is impossible to end tasks without finishing them.

Actually, try fast-travel patrolling the area near his base of operations; bandits/goblins/etc. will often try to ambush you on their turf. Though I'm not sure if the fact all his subordinates are dead will factor into this.

Didn't attempt this myself since, you know, sick fogs.
