Pathing around Creatures: Slowdown
« on: October 31, 2007, 01:25:00 pm »

I'm only up to a population of 45, with a couple cats and dogs (they haven't had time to do much breeding, I'm on my 2nd winter) and every time two dwarves (really a dwarf and any other creature) encounter each other moving in opposite directions in a hallway 2 spaces wide (or narrower) the game takes a 1 second pause to--I assume--recalculates paths.

Now, you can immagine that with 45 dwarves and a minimalist fortress this happens fairly often (about every 3 to 8 seconds) and it's rather annoying.

It shouldn't be taking that long of course.  I've solicited saves for this on the other thread where this was reported.
