Moose Men?
« on: May 01, 2011, 06:15:15 pm »

While traversing a good-aligned mountain, I came across a rather large field of bubble bulbs, and while unicorns to slaughter (or die trying) a came across a group of Moose Men. I could speak with them, but they would not join me and when I asked them questions they replied with "Ask me when I have returned to my home."

Could these Moose Men be migrating somewhere? Or is this just some strange bug?

You could speak to them?  That doesn't seem normal.

Honestly, I know nothing of these Moose Men.  I mod them out, along with Capybara Men, Badger Men, Panda Men... basically 70% of the humanoid monsters have no reason to exist.

Giraffe Men?

Surprisingly I leave Plump Helmet Men in.  Couldn't tell you why.

Because plump helmet men are cool. You don't need a better excuse.

I think it's just a bug right now that creatures that can speak to you but whom have no home, like the some of the animal men, can't answer questions. I would even argue that the conversation function is entirely incomplete. It hasn't been fundamentally updated for a while, either.

I am hesitant to call it a bug, if you've read Threetoe's stories he has plenty of examples of elves talking to animals. I believe they will be developed later. In the mean time you have placeholders like this. You could already talk to cavern tribes long before above ground animal men showed up.
