I could be wrong, but haven't some people found groups of kobolds just sitting around outside in this version? Not quite a kobold cave, but...

I do miss goblin towers. Always fun to storm/jump off the top of them.

i'm pretty sure i found a kobold cave once in one of the new versions. it might have been before the stuff was taken out, though.

You can mod the raws to make other races build and live in towns, but that doesn't bring back the other site types of course....

I wish that was how it was oficially i hate how as a dwarf you cant arm yourself despite the name being dwarf fortress.

you could build a dwarf fortress then "Retire it"(use Dfmode to change to assume direct control on a dead creature and end the game, this causes the fort to act like the old forts from before only custom made.)

The "Kobolds found outside" are just a bugged cave.

The only things you'll find in this version are Caves (bugged or not), Lairs, Hamlets, Towns, and Camps.

This happened to me. I was going to kill an outlaw or night creature of some sorts and I saw gray k's moving towards me. Dispatched them quickly, but I was excited to actually find kobolds.

For dwarves I just ended up making a City Dwarf civ that likes Marshes/wetlands/swamps... I imagine they have Bayou accents in dwarven.  But you can buy armor that fits you!
