I think FATAL without all of the "LOL! I RAPED U!", *insert uneducated racist bullshit here* and "DICKBAG CUNTPIPE LOOOOLLLL!" would just be 200 pages long.

Anyway, it would be quite interesting to see a version of FATAL that dosen't make you tear your brains out with a spoon when reading the rules.

Your spoon was obviously too blunt.

Well, me and USEC are going to make a FATAL games on those very forum. At the moment, I am trying to get into my Demron suit, and as soo as I am able to manipulate FATAL without brain bleach, I'll start looking into it for a scenario we could play.

We're going to master "old-school" FATAL, with all the racism, sexism and broken rules that game can throw at us.

P.S. Honestly, I have already played game when the GM and players seems to be playing againsdt each other, but it's the first time I feel I'm attacking the game system!

I attempted to make a DF RPG at one point. Didn't turn out well.

I think Fatal's only charm is the "LOL! I RAPED U!" combined with the racism and sexism. Without that, you got a crappy gaming system, which removes any reason to really play it. You should focus on fixing it, and it seems to me that the first most obvious broken part is the occupations.

A good place to start might be examining the Domesday Book and figuring out proper figures and occupations from that.
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/domesday/world-of-domesday/order.htm
Other = (Like Knights and Nobility and stuff) 18%
freemen/stokemen = 12%
Villans = 40%
Bordars/cottars = ?20%?
slaves = 10%

Seems to me that Villans/Bordars/Cottars, since they had time for themselves, would be able to exercise independent professions some of the time of just about any type, though it would probably be a profession approved by their nobility. Freemen/stokemen would obviously be able to do so at their own choice.

So I think Serf rolls would be the ones you'd roll the profession for, and Freemen you'd get to pick. That's just my view though. (Of course some obvious things would need to be examined. A Serf probably wouldn't be a money-lender, for example, and professional soldiers were probably in the 18% of other.)
