[FIREIMMUNE] and [FIREIMMUNE_SUPER] don't work
« on: December 20, 2006, 09:16:00 am »

[FIREIMMUNE] and [FIREIMMUNE_SUPER] don't work, or atleast not properly.

Edit. This was in 0.22.120.23b though. So I don't know if this is fixed.

I added these commands under command [TRANCES] but for some reason my adventurer still takes damage from fire I made with key G command. He was resistant to steam though.

Sorry for bad english.

i think for some reason the game treats temperature damage and fire damage (like fireballs and lava) differently.i tried messing around with the homeotherm parameters and fire immunity tags to get dwarves that set everything they touch on fire but instead they just keel over and die immediately after the game starts.

Right. Damage from temperature is handled by [heatdam_point:<temp>] and [colddam_point:<temp>]. The new flags for dealing with temperature were outlined in file changes.txt.

So I can use [heatdam_point:<temp>] and [colddam_point:<temp>] to make my drarfs immune to fire and cold?

Thats great. Their clothes still burn though?

As far as I understand it, the tags can be used in the matgloss files. If you wanted burn-proof plant fiber, you'd add the relevant tag to a plant. This gives me ideas for dwarves doing asbestos mining - it was highly valued in antiquity, but given how long dwarves are supposed to live, they probably know its effects quite well, and miners wouldn't be too happy digging through it.

In addition to what's been said, the [FIREIMMUNE] flags simply haven't been upgraded, because flows haven't been upgraded.  Temperature is still a work in progress.
