Does your Urist McProficientCarpenter make ☼mango wood wood beds☼ straight from embark? Probably doesn't, because currently finding 'that specialist dwarf' (ie. Remarkable Dwarf) is a major pain in the ass.

I personally spend more time shifting through embarking sevens' Thoughts and preferences -screens than I do between Embark and farm plot on the first cavern level.

So, possibility to find dwarves by attribute/preference (and skill in profession for use later on with migrants) would be greatly appreciated. This could be accomplished by Manager screen style (Start typing "mil" -> McThisone is Talented Miller!, McThatone prefers to consume dwarven milk!, etc) for an example.

Did you know that your Urist McCheesemaker was also a Competent mason? That could've saved her from the Magma pit.

The point of this thread is to suggest changes for the game itself.  Talking about 3rd party mods is basically irrelevant in this thread unless you're talking about the absorption of something into DF proper..

This is an excellant idea, especially given that (IIRC) Dwarf Therapist doesn't work pre-embark
