[33f] Temperature-related compatibility issue with 33e
« on: December 17, 2007, 10:21:00 am »

I upgraded from 33e to 33f, and continued playing my glacier fortress in 33f. As ChangeLog points out fire-related problems have been solved in this version, I turned on temperature to see if burning items get destroyed. With temperature turned on, burning items were properly removed, but it also has turned a vast amount of ice walls into water...(Movie)

I did some tests if I can reproduce this problem in other fortresses, and have found it can happen in any glacial maps:

1. Embark on a glacier biome in 33e.
2. Dig downwards until a miner hits a rock layer.
3. Save game. Open it with 33f.
4. Underground ice walls around dug squares turn to water.

Melting ice walls only occur with 33e save files, and when the saves are opened with 33f. Opening 33d save files with 33e, or 33d save files with 33f didn't have the problem in my experiments.

I think I know why this is happening.  I can fix it for next time.
