Embarking as a Plant
« on: April 14, 2011, 09:25:18 pm »

Would it be possible to embark as, say, a tree? So that, for example, your trees would be killed and instead of a corpse there'd be a log of wood? Could you embark as plump helmets and cook your own dwarves?

@Footjob, you can microwave most grains I've tried pretty easily through the microwave, even if they aren't packaged for it.

Well, you could make a civilization of the already existing plump-helmet men by adding a new entry in the entity files.

if you make plant creatures yes. being real trees no. The game uses tiles for trees and dwarves "dig" them out. I learn that from finding the Tree and Shrub tiles in Tweak.

You can make dwarves drop logs on death using a tag that I forget what is called. (I think)
Check the brozne colossus, it drops a figurine on death.

Other than that, nope. You could embark as ents from the Genesis mod if you really wanted trees.

As far as cooking goes, nope. You can't use actual creatures for a reaction. Only vermin, I think.

I believe your sig is now fairly relevant.

Duplicating raws has produced this on at least one occasion.  I still remember the reports of the person who embarked as a civ of living trees that ate wagon meat.

And, someday, I hope to see a mod with egg-laying wagons.  Technically, I think the game considers them "creatures" ... or at least it did back in the day.

You could have berries on the rocks and the dwarves would say it was "berry gneiss."
You should die horribly for this. And I mean that in the nicest possible way.
