They're immune to magma...

But are they immune to magma dust? Maybe you could rig some cave in's over magma to kill them...

Yesterday I did an experiment related to clowns and how they kill FPS to confirm my theory about worst case A* when there is no path to the destination . I turned on dfreveal and unpaused . when that happens.... the clowns decide to try to get out of the circus with the way blocked . the FPS gradually went down to 50 then went up to 80 and down to 50 stayed pretty constant .

then... I used runesmith to genocide the  clowns of all types . and fps went back up to 100.  I didn't check degredations due to temperature calculation but it was a brand new fort.

If you don't want to cheat using runesmith to kill the demons you can turn off temperatures which should give about 10FPS boost.

After looking at the pathfinding problem from many directions . I think there are more than one implementable solution for FPS death when opening the circus .

It was ABOUT time that someone mentioned the use of magma, even though they cannot be hurt with that.

Temperature already off >.> hehe. And YESSS, Runesmith can genocide! I dont yet know how, but I'll look into it. It's still stupid that even tho I filled the tubes, circus will be revealed, AND clowns will go thru candy like ghosts. Silly hardcoded stuff. I really wanted some candy in this fort.

Clowns wander around if they cannot find a path. Since they wander only a tile or two, then they recalculate pathing, this chokes up a lot of FPS! I remember for example in .19 version, dorfs in meeting halls would also wander around. I noticed that my current dorfs, in .25, just stand somewhere in the meeting hall and dont path at all, as long as they are idling there. Nice!

Uhh, somewhat offtopic, but let's say that I have to use the steel... Is it correct that slashing damage depends on material base value? Iron is 10 and steel is 30. Is steel 3x stronger? Is it... worth bothering with steel?

Immunity to magma is overcome by nothing so easily as MORE MAGMA. Flood them with it then add water.

Alternatively, you can divert a forgotten beast in for massive amounts of FUN.

They're immune to poison. And just about everything but bisection. A couple can be decapitated; but for the most part they are a horde of mini-FB's that come in one huge zerg rush.

Runesmith has a genocide tool.

Guaranteed to remove any cat, badger, OOOOOOR Demon infestation that you might have in your current OR future forts.

Runesmith

Ask for it by name.

Masterwork steel is twice as good as any lower quality steel

They're nearly as bad as badgers. Build a couple of anti-buzzard SAM sites marksdwarf towers and your fortress will look like Baghdad in 2003 from all the aerial bolt spam. You waste a lot of ammo and everything is covered in unslightly exploded buzzard bits and broken bolts.

No pressure plate, that's useless (trap immune types don't trigger traps)

Either have dwarfs pulling the lever with 'R' for repeat activated, or link to a mechanical repeater of some kind. just using 'R' on a manual lever is less work to set up. Because it's being pulled remotely, the trap triggers like normal.

BTW, recently I perfected smashing though SMR to get to HFS without candy tubes. This was SMR without flowing Magma though. Channel into SMR, floor it over then drop cave-ins through it. This may allow you to do frontline HFS construction before fighting demons.

I was referring to putting a pressure plate in my own fort where there is most traffic >.> they would shredding killing some distant creatures, and they wouldnt even know; ooor care. Just adding my two cents to the Video Game Cruelty Potential. In fact, we appear on this page, under RTS category.

But our entry is so small. =( Fix?
