Weapon damage and materials
« on: April 13, 2011, 09:34:35 pm »

I couldn't find anything on the wiki about this:

How does the material type affect the weapon made from said material affect it's damage and overall quality?

iron, copper, steel etc.

There is an article about it but I can't find it so I'll just state the basics:

There are 2 basic types of attacks: Blunt and edge
Edge(Swords, Axes) works best with light materials like adamantine
Blunt(Hammers, maces) works best with dense materials like silver

If you make a war hammer from something as light as cotton candy, you wouldn't expect it to do much damage, would you?
As for Edge with dense materials, metals that are very dense like lead and silver also tend to be quite soft, so you wouldn't expect it to hold an edge very well.

This is all from memory, please correct me if I got something wrong.

Edit: Also, steel tends to be good all around. It's heavy enough to make decent war hammers and light enough to be great for sharp weapons.

There's a table at the bottom explaining which metal fares well / poorly.

There was a thread a while back with a lot of tables in it. Suffice to say, its incredibly complicated, but the order listed in the wiki is pretty much right.
