Goblins guarding wounded dwarfs?
« on: April 07, 2011, 08:44:17 pm »

Hey all quick question, I did search for an answer but couldn't find anything so hopefully this hasn't been asked before.

I had a goblins ambush, so I send out my warriors, who quickly get slaughtered. I manage to get all but two goblins in traps, those two goblins are now just sitting by two of my immobile and wounded dwarfs. Not moving, just watching apparently.

My 2 remaining warriors will get slaughtered if I send them out there. Is there anything to be done? Are the goblins supposed to sit around and watch my wounded dwarfs bleed and dehydrate to death?

Thanks!!

The Goblins may be more wounded then the dwarves. Likely passed out on the ground. I'd send out your two worriers. See what happens.

The issue is more the buggy behavior when the goblin squad leader gets captured in a cage trap, the rest of the gobbos will stand around the cage trap playing tiddlywinks while waiting for the captured goblin to do a Houdini escape.

Eventually, they get bored and leave the map.  Or a caravan comes and slaughters the remnants of the ambush squad.

Anywhere you put cage traps you need to surround it with at least 2 tiles worth of weapon traps to discourage loitering (and I suggest 3-4 tiles radius, so put cage traps on long narrow walkways).  Or make sure that the cage traps are within range of any marksdwarves that you send up to the wall fortifications.

Actually one time I had a goblin just sitting trying to finish off a wounded dwarf, for some buggy reason he couldn't hit any of the attacks and he just kept trying. An incoming merchant finished him off without any attempt at resistance.

Thanks for the info all,

I did have one gobo in a cage, maybe that was the leader and why they just stood there. Merchants left shortly thereafter and dispatched them for me, but that will never happen again! Off to the barracks to train!!
