I embarked in a freshwater marsh and being early spring, there was still snow on the ground and the water was frozen.

I noticed an anthill on top of a frozen murky pool and thought "Hah! Get ready for some exciting times when the water thaws, ants."

Then late spring came and everything thawed.

The anthill was hovering over the water.

I figured this was probably just an oversight in coding, maybe not taking in to account solid or liquid for anthill basis.

Then winter came again, and the water froze once more. I channeled out a 3x3 area around the anthill, and once again they remained perfectly fine. Obviously ants and materials they use aren't affected by gravity, and I for one welcome our new ant overlords.

Yeah, and that's the first time I've ever been able to quote the EXACT thing.

Usually you have to switch out ants for something else.

Well maybe that anthill was light enough to float on water... or maybe the ants used water surface tension to make it flight.

Next, bees will do the same thing, AND both insects WILL CONQUER THE OCEAN ON WAX OR TWIG BOATS !

Actually, since he embarked when the water was frozen, the ant-hill is most likely constructed of ice ... which floats.  I've seen this before as well, and when I chec[k]ed the ant-hill it claimed it was made of ice.

Check for beards or strange moods or alcohol in their ant hills. The similarities are too much.

a) Fire ants form their bodies into rafts when their area gets flooded (second paragraph). And I wouldn't be surprised if army ants did it when swarming.

b) I have had a beehive floating on a river.
