My Military Captain is stuck in the Metal Forge. He's not moving, and when I check him it says "Go to Combat Training". He's stuck like that for a while now. What's wrong?

Is there a training area? Is there a path from the forge to the training area?

Are there any locked doors nearby? Is he conscious?

Are the impassable tiles of the forge blocking any exits? You could always have the forge deconstructed. Or just try using a move command to get him to... well, move.

I've had that problem and in my case, forbidding everything in the forge fixed the issue.  Seems he was secretly trying to Pickup Equipment.

As wedgebert said, he's probably in a Pickup Equipment loop. Easiest way to avoid this is to set "R"eplace clothing on his uniform, and make sure he's not wearing too many things on one body part (more than 3 chain mail shirts, for example).

I've had my captain get stuck in the middle of a big stone stockpile for a good while. Plenty of room to leave, no one else was around other than his 2 war dogs. I think I eventually fixed it by toggling off all jobs, unpausing for a bit then re enabling them.
