Well, I've started another new fort because of some problems on the last one, and I've got a nice forested half sedimentary and flat area, half hilly and rocky and... igneous extrusive? Whatever. So plenty of iron, and coal and lignite, and loads of trees, and flux, and obsidian layers, and it's a nich area and... yeah. Sand and soil and clay. Defensible area to dig an entrance. I like.

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...
