Embarking constantly in snow covered areas?

It seems that every time I've embarked, it's been in a snow covered area.
I can choose a place in the centre of the map, and it's always covered in snow.
All the pools are frozen, and the river is frozen.

I'm pretty sure I didn't choose a freezing biome as well.

Anyone wanna tell me what the fudge is going on?

You start in early spring, so anything temperate or colder will likely be snowed in. Start somewhere warm or hot. Alternately, wait a few months.

Center of the map is usually average temperature and freezes during winter. You embark 1st of spring, everything is still frozen, just wait a little. If you dont want water to freeze start in warm or hot areas.
