How did your favorite loss of a fort happen?
« on: April 02, 2011, 09:36:46 pm »

My greatest lost was when i dug into to hell and could block off the passageway soon enough. My last Dwarf was a miller. He was frozen to death by some monster.

I second the HFS death. That was hilarious.

Back in the 2-D version when I was a noob I hit the HFS , withdrew the bridge and went HA and then they crossed over so I freaked out and pulled every switch in my fortress flooding everything  and killing most everyone in the process losing the rest to tantrums.

Like... six simultaneous goblin and elf incursions. They turned on each other. The goblins won and proceeded to rip apart the fort in celebration.

Not quite understanding the physics of DF water, I casually hooked up a river to a well and it flooded my fortress. I managed to block it off with a single oaken door. Later, a troll came and bashed to door, my fortress was flooding again, but now seven or so carp managed to make their way in. Tearing apart every mobile creature they could find. When I retreated everyone up to the surface a herd of elephants promptly skewered them. The last surviving dwarf with half a limb left pulled the self destruct lever and collapsed the fortress into the magma sea.

You must've modded your dragons because vanilla ones don't have [FLIER].

I did indeed
I was looking to have a really cool arena battle, so I gave them a bunch of tags and sized them up.  Made them a bit too strong.

I redirected a river into the caverns, and a cave crocodile was curious. Then I got sieged. So then my dwarves were stuck on a bridge between goblins, trolls, and a cave crocodile; hanging over putrid water and spikes, then one of the dwarves throws a tantrum.
That bridge didn't last a chance.
