Is it just me, or are weapons given after character creation always terrible?

I've made 5 adventurers in a row with my troll mod..

In this mod, there are two weapons-grade metals: sharp and heavy. Sharp is ~steel, maybe a bit sharper. Heavy is as good for blunt as silver.

I've gotten the following weapons after Character creation:

Heavymetal two-handed sword
Heavymetal Great Axe
Heavymetal Battle Axe
Sharpmetal Whip
Sharpmetal Whip

Now, these are literally ALL the worst choices possible for the situation. It could be a coincidence, but...

Well, in the Monster Hunter Universe mod, I've gotten a longsword made out of a material that's around the same level as adamantine, so I think it's just luck.

It's been only 2/15 results or so that I've gotten something favorable  :'(

i get decent stuff all the time.

though i wish it would give me silver or copper instead of iron for my goblin whips.

If I'm lucky, I get bismuth bronze. That's the best material I've ever gotten. Whenever I get a sword, it's always silver, which sucks for swords.
