Fire-safe anvil for Metalsmith's forge?

Hey,

so I want to build a metal smith's forge because my fortress is doing pretty well and I'm kinda bored. When I want to build it it says "needs fire-safe anvil". I have steel anvils, where would I get other ones?

Check to insure your steel anvils are not forbidden and that dwarves can path to where you are trying to build the workshop.

How do I check if they are forbidden? Where I want to build it is accessible.

Check the stocks screen (Z -> Stocks (displayed at the top of the screen) and navigate down to the anvils entry

See if it has an F next to it.

If so, it's forbidden

Or look at the anvil, and highlight it and press f if it's a {(steel anvil)} (with the {}, not necessarily the ()).

Oh shoot.... Just noticed I don't have anvils. Something must have gone wrong trading with that dwarf caravan.... Dang it!

Although iron anvils are only 'bout 100 which just make a bunch of rock crafts or something and you should be able to afford it. I have been bringing one with me so I can start forging early on. I just bring along the supplies instead of steel weapons, so my first miner turns in his initial copper pick for a steel one and hopefully I can get a couple of steel picks and a battle axe or two out of my initial batch.
