Job screen fails to terse job names
« on: October 16, 2006, 03:29:00 am »

[title], and ends up placing the job name PAST the status of the job. "Encrust finished goods with rose quartz" and equally long job names cause this issue.

Non-fatal, it's just simply a distracting graphical bug.

Adventure mode look command on other creatures is horrible for that too...  I need to do those shortened names at some point.

It'll also do it with especially long professions for dwarves, especially if they've got work at a building with a short name.

The things for glass can be cut down by not including the glass type.  We already selected "clear" or "green" or "crystal," so no need to say "make green glass window" (which gets truncated to about "make green glass wi")  "make glass window" or even "make window" would work.

Same thing can be done for the forge.

That's the big central job listing screen, though...  having a more detailed description there actually can be useful (in case you have many different windows queued up for building, say.)

I do agree that it has to be shortened, but it's not completely useless.  You're thinking of the menu options.
