Designating areas to be cleared.

This includes grasses, trees and even boulders.
This would allow the player to clear areas to make patches of dirt. I think that could be useful when planning above-ground structures.

If it included saplings (and dead/undead bushes?) it would be great for clearing areas for above ground farms. I hate having a hard time finding a good spot for a farm just because saplings are in the way.

Saplings, grass, boulders, auto-assign the trees in the area to be cut.
Simply anything to turn it into a patch of nice dirt.

Clearing away saplings and shrubs is already possible - just build a dirt road.

P.S. If you don't get this note, let me know and I'll write you another.
It's amazing how dwarves can make a stack of bones completely waterproof and magmaproof.
It's amazing how they can make an entire floodgate out of the bones of 2 cats.

It's a workaround, though.
