Does the village look gold or white on the travel map? Only the yellow-ish towns have shops. If you are in a yellow town, then there should be one around.

Also, medicine doesn't work in adventure mode. Sorry dude, your hands are permanently disabled. :-\

I don't think there is any way to heal nerve damage period. So if you have cut motor nerves, those are gone for good. Torn tendons and ligaments do seem to heal with time though.

Thanks so much! Also just wondering is there any use to grabbing a body part in wrestling even though you can't do anything with it. And also I have tried strangling, how long does it take to suffocate someone (if possible) Thanks!

I've heard that grabbing a body part makes it harder for the enemy to dodge. I haven't tested it personally though since I prefer to just grab the head with a hand and start gouging. Suffocation seems to be based on the enemy's speed, not yours; if you're really fast it'll take forever to strangle them to death, whereas if you're slower it'll go by quicker. If you're in a 1-on-1 situation and don't want to train wrestling, strangle them until they're unconscious, then lay down by pressing s and continue to strangle. It'll get rid of them a lot faster. On the other hand it's probably better to keep strangling since wrestling is a useful skill.

Hope that helps. ^^

Actually grabbing a body part has a lesser known use. I've only been able to reproduce it in the arena, but having an incredibly high wrestling skill allows you to grab a body part and then either pinch it (which really means pop it like a cherry or sever it at such a high skill level) or throw the enemy by it. The throwing interface is a little odd but generally as I've said at very high (Master+?) skill levels in wrestling I've been able to throw a creature a couple dozen tiles and have them blow apart upon hitting a wall. I don't think them actually flying across the game grid is shown/animated so it's a little hard to tell what happened aside from the combat announcement.

Never had throw or pinch do too much damage (except when I was a bronze colossus :D ) but you can use it to gouge, and VERY easily lock limbs. It's so easy to grab the upper arm or leg with one of your arms or legs, lock it, and break the shoulder or hip, instantly putting them in extreme pain, permanent injury and sometimes heavy bleeding...

I think it's the way towns develop now. In the beginning, people move into a town. Then they start producing tables, which results in more and more tables. Soon tables represent a significant portion of the population, they start lobbying for new laws and regulations, putting people to greater and greater disadvantage...
Link for full quote. 'tis mighty funny.

Well... you can either spawn one and play as it in the arena, or just mod the entity files to include BCs. Heck, you could replace Dwarves with Bronze Colossi and have a Bronze Colossus Fortress. Would you like some help with that? I know RAWs are confusing at first, but I'm up for modding an entity file to make a BC definition or any other help you might need.

Inside your DF folder is a Raws folder. Open it and go into Objects, open the creature_standard file and find CREATURE:COLOSSUS_BRONZE. Put either the [INTELLIGENT] or [CANLEARN] tag just above its prefstring if you want to be able to learn skills; if not, you can ignore the previous. Next, open the entity_default file and paste this in at the very bottom:

Code: [Select]
[ENTITY:BRONZE]
[INDIV_CONTROLLABLE]
[CREATURE:COLOSSUS_BRONZE]
[TRANSLATION:HUMAN]
[ADVENTURE_TIER:4]

Save all files, gen a new world, and there you go.

I have had wrestling help in a number of ways. I think the chance of you throwing someone actually depends on your strength. While I was able to throw a rabbit, I wasn't able to through a night beast.

Another use for wrestling is it draws attention to you and off your companions. Something else I do with it is after I manage to scrape together full armor, I go fund a critter, like a rabbit or a duck, sneak up on it, pin it down, and then just let it wail on me. :D It is excellent defense XP as long as you don't kill it.

Throwing has more to do with sheer size than actual strength. Most monsters like night creatures and trolls are going to be larger than a human, elf, or dwarf, making throwing them difficult. For comparison again, a bronze colossus can grab something and throw it a good distance, or smash it to pieces on a wall. The same goes for attacks launching the victim through the air: It's based primarily on size, not strength. Before the recent combat overhaul, it relied more on strength, and even small weapons in the hands of a superhuman strength character would send goblins flying in a truly badass fashion.

I'm hoping in the near future, a more accurate strength vs. size system.

I'm quite sure that muscles increase your weight and that should translate to better ability to wrestle, strike unarmed (heavier bodyparts) and bull-rush. So strength does affect it indirectly. Ditto for size and fat.

Personally I rather like it that you need to be extremely tall, broad, muscled and fat laden bear before you can really smush those trolls and grizzly bears with german suplex. Better than allowing a small-sized elf do it just because he's extremely strong for his size.
