Squires for nobles
« on: March 20, 2011, 02:43:45 pm »

Reading a thread about a legendary axedwarf who lost his ability to grasp in both hands due to nerve damage, I thought about the pity this dwarf cannot put on armor by himself and so cannot join future battles as a biting, kicking tornado of pain.

If notable dwarves could be assigned squires who would take care of their equipment and dressed them to battle (it was common for middle-ages knights), he could still go into battle armored!

The entire content consists of senseless murder, a pile of faceless naked women and zero regard for human life in general, all in the service of the protagonist's base impulses. It is clearly a cry for help from a neglected, self absorbed and disempowered juvenile badly in need of affectionate guidance. What a sad, sad display.

Somewhat planned, the development agenda lists something similar.  Basically, the ability to put on armor as quickly as it takes to pluck a strawberry isn't desired, and adding squires or at least a time delay will be needed.  Expected in the Army Arc, I think, because it's also going to overhaul politics, and squires are a form of politics and hierarchy.
