Second age of myth.
« on: March 18, 2011, 03:29:18 pm »

Just had this cool thing happen on a 250 year world. It went from Age of Myth into the Age of Legends and then back into the "Second Age of Myth". Didn't know this could happen. Ages are influenced by the number of mega and semi-megabeasts, right? Well, I turned up savagery to the max, so maybe a bunch of savage animals ate all the humans after they killed all the dragons or something.

Or they actually started breeding, which is a damn scary thought.

Here at Bay12, we're constantly looking for ways to set the world on fire.
But at least after all the chaos, the weather cleared.

Seems likely that they are breeding. Dragons and rocs both lay eggs so one of those is the likely culprit.

So is this going to turn into a Night Creature situation where you walk into a lair in adventure mode and find eight or ten dragons instead of the one?

How is this bad? It's the dwarfiest thing to ever happen to megabeasts. I'm looking forward to being sieged by dragon civilizations.

Only way to make dragon civs is to actually put in a dragon civ. Megabeast and semimegabeast reproduction is vaguely limited by the max number of beasts attributed to the world. Sometimes due to the random nature of egg laying it goes slightly over or can repopulate missing beasts to drastically change the age name...

There is a hard cap an mega beast. IIRC the cap is the same as the total starting population, so megebeast can only breed if some of them die

Just copy the human entry in the entity_default.txt, past it after the last entry and change the designation from "human" to "DRAGON".

Boom.
