Basically a dwarf will attempt to cross a aquaduct, wether or not it's carrying liquid at the time. Very often a dwarf will attempt to "jump" over the lava in an aquaduct, and fail miserably; mangled status on both feet ensues... Followed by a party line of dwarves, attempting to recover the ever-increasing amount of immobilized dwarves. As a reminder, dwarves jump into lava filled channels /aquaducts to clean blood and retrieve bodies.
It may or may not be important, but i built the aquaduct in question over a muddy channel, that once carried water. Maybe the pathing of the aquaduct is being over-ridden by the pathing of the channel?
Oh, and the water gets blocked whenever i try to pass it under the lava-filled aquaduct... And i cant remove the sob because i didn't put floodgates on either end.
Also of unknown importance is the speed of the dwarf. I'm playing around with a one-dwarf game, and so was using a [SPEED:1] on my dwarf species... But i doubt that's the issue, because pathing is pathing, regardless of speed.
[Update: After aprox. 30 attempts at 'sealing' the aquaduct with statues and another one with doors, i'm 90% certain that it IS a pathing issue and has nothing to do with the dwarves speed value... The only thing his speed does is allow him to survive. If he was moving at a normal speed, he'd be incinerated instantly... Which happened a few times, as he attempted to move from one lava-filled aquaduct square to the next.]
