I once had an artifact cap that menaced with spikes of cave spider silk (oldschool 2D DF), and I always imagined it as a jester's cap, with the "menacing spikes" being integral to the design of the hat.

yes, they had a nice wooden cap for sale last time they rolled through

as humans and elves have "special" clothing abilities id imagine an elf can make clothes out of wood
although if i saw an elf wearing animal leather clothing i might be quite speculative of their sincerity
