Just confirmed that you can put armor on animals in the arena. Dogs, at least. And it is my honest opinion that Beak Dogs are too damn powerful for fifty dorfbucks, but that's the way it is.

EDIT:
Extensive testing shows that Animal Men are just too small to be very effective in combat. All of the builds I have tested have been simply knocked over and cut down by the default dwarf fighter I put together. :\

Another win for Kzelo!

He will get yet another training session in crossbowman, reaching level 12.
He will then sell the copper pick and pine shield for 18¤, reaching a total of 63¤.

Since Smosp is lonely, Kzelo will buy another beak dog, named Arspun, for 50¤. He will keep the 13¤ in case one of the pets gets seriously wounded.

Don't be afraid to mimic my fighter. The Blood Throne is likely still in balancing stages, and I went for the most powerful combo I could think of :)

Due to a exhausting personal thing coming up, I don't have the energy to write up backstory or engravings. I will do it some other time, I promise.

In the meantime, enjoy these raw images :D

Aww, I was the richest person and I died on my first fight.. Second try gogogo

Name: Urist McUrist
Gender: male
Race: Dwarf
skills: 10 Axedorf!
Equipment: Copper battleaxe (75 DB - 68 DB = 9DB left)

[My ultimate strategy;
If against melee opponents -> cut their limbs off before they hit me.
If against ranged opponents -> pray that they will miss all their shots before I can go and cut their limbs off.]

The combat log shows only five bolts fired, but it doesn't count misses. How about I end up with five bolts remaining? Or will you be nice and give me the sixth one? I did supposedly start with six. I'm going to leave that one up to you.

I'm going to sell the gauntlets, upgrade the mail shirt and helmet to my size, still copper sell the shirt and helmet, upgrade bow to copper bow, and then buy three 7 arrows. The skill point goes into sword since I made the kill by melee.

Good thing it appears you remembered to give me the (10) in bowman, not bowyer as I said previously. Brainfart.

After all this I should have 26 in the bank. See math in spoiler

So. I got then:
Bowman (10)
Swordman (1)
Pet: Beak Dog (Female) (Clever Girl)
Copper Bow
12 Copper Arrows (13 if you allow me ending up with all of my arrows after fight) (Or less if you take away more arrows)

A quick scan of the stocks menu shows that one of the dead pack animals has a bin full of silk cloth!  It is speedily unforbidden, and my moody glassmaker sprints off to retrieve his prize amongst the smoking, charred, blood-soaked ruin that is the outdoors, totally oblivious to the carnage that was instigated on his behalf.

Ace McSpade recieved 25 dwarf bucks, a copper battle axe, and a Wolf Leather Cap
In the beginning I expected Zolok to win at any moment as well. It was just a random thing: who would hit the head first. It was a good fight, and Zolok died honourably.

Unless I fall on the Kzelo ripoff, I am quite confident now.

Also what about using the element men ? Iron men and amethyst men might be OP, but fire men, magma men, mud men, could be cool. ("Mud" not so much, but magma man is definitely awesome)

In testing: fire men do seem to be equal to dwarves. Magma men are however OP.

Saw that coming. I believe Kzel and elizar have struck a winning strategy. Let's try going with this:

Nestro, Female Goblin
Lasher 3
Dodger 7
Copper Scourge (28*)
Estrur the Harpy (30*)
17*
Nestro and Estrur have been friends since childhood, born in the same
evil mountains and hunting the same prey (beak dogs). Once they grew
old enough, the two departed their homeland and sought out adventure.
They have found it in the Blood Throne.

The plan is to upgrade the two roughly equally so that I have two decent fighters instead of one awesome fighter.

New fighter enters:

Name: Hergan
Gender: Male
Race: Human
Skills: Swordsman 7, Dodger 3
Equipment: Copper short sword (28), Wolf leather armor (21), Honey badger (25), 1db left
Backstory: Crazed hermit from who knows where. Has never explained his sudden arrival to the arena.
