Somehow it seems that the single female cat in my fortress and the caged cats brought merchants manage to get it on.  Every few years shortly after the merchants leave she pops out kittens.

This always leads to me pretending my dwarves are The Tick.  "Eat this kitten"  I always say it as I order all the kittens slaughtered.

That's just how it works right now.  I have a bloat up to fix it.  Right now, they practice action-at-a-distance tele(k/g)(i/e)netic mating.

Bloat46, PROPER PREGNANCY, (Future): Currently creatures become pregnant from a distance, although it does do a gender check at least.

this does remind me of the old "spore theory" or "fungal theory" or whatever it was, from GORKAMORKA.  It never rode quite as well as the old rogue-trader snotling/brainboy explination, but it certainly fits here.  Clearly, Dwarfs and their domesticated fauna are all actually flora.

oh, and dont forget the giant stompy shrooms of dooms.

Elephants are my favorite pet.  I have about 100 now.  Thier slaughter schedule is right after lava flood the outside world and finalize slaughter of the mandrills.  Only about 30 of those left to butcher.
