I wouldn't put it past dwarves to try to fuse magma with the sun for some inane purpose.

But what would it look like in a more dwarfy world?

Spoiler: Picture (click to show/hide)
It's not enough! It definitely needs more magma, burning animals, and massive megaprojects. Then it would be more dwarfy.

You see, here's how I think this works:
Overseer: Welcome to the military! You need to wear socks! Dorf: Oh, I should get military socks. My socks are civilian socks. Dorf discards socks Dorf: You know, I need a whole lot of gear now. I should get socks... last. Oh, but these steel boots with the white goo on them are nice!

Of course, tragedy will strike when a Dorfnaught walls himself outside the international space station.

Also, all Dorfnaught space flights will need to bring shells with them, just in case...

I would assume it involved a lot of exploding beer and a small chimp in a wooden box.

Here's Tinrain's Space Station at the top of their Spacer Elevator. Docked you see the Escape Shuttle. The shuttle contains two acceleration chairs, two beds, two tables, two storage cabinets and enough food for the Astro-Dwarf confined to the station burrow for two years. In the event of an emergency where the station needs to be abandoned the two shuttle levers seal the airlock and release the support holding the shuttle to the station after which it's designers hope it will safely glide to earth. The station itself is equipped with many levers that control the access bridges to as well as the Armok's Hammer payloads hanging off the Bombardment Boom. One payload has been delivered already. The stations solar collectors can be seen to the right. Currently they are of relatively inefficient granite, soon they shall be gold.
