I actually like embarks that are part aquifer and part without the most. Easy access to an infinite water source is nice, but so is easy access underground. And, you know, the extra risk of flooding is just Fun.

Well if you remove the [MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] tag from dwarves I think they have like 2-4 children each time they give birth. And if you get enough mothers up on the pillars you can probably get a good waterfall going.
Ashes are technically fire-safe.

Hmm... I wonder if it's possible to punch through them with an artificial cave-in? Say, build a three z-level tower, out of wood, then suspend a floor of walls in the middle, connect a lever, and let it drop.

If it works it could save a lot of trouble punching through mutli-layer aquifers.

You can get through with cave-ins, but it has to be natural walls, not constructed ones.

i like to embark on a place with a non aquifer biome and an aquifer biome. it helps me fill my moat without losing some fps to a river
