Money buys some happiness, but what most people don't get is that they sacrifice happiness for money in the first place.

It brings diminishing gains, once you get enough basic money to eat, have a nice room, a car that works, and a little entertainment. You can get maybe better stuff when you move into middle class. But after a certain point, it's more about showing off than actually bringing in any happiness. And showing off doesn't really bring happiness either, as people tend to not respect someone who has a golden fountain in their backyard, compared to someone who spends that money on charity.

The downside is that making money takes a lot of effort, and you need to find a balance between actually wanting the money and actually giving up your morals/time/family/health for it.

If you're not willing what you have to make more money, don't envy those who have more money. They may have more stuff, but they're sacrificing a bit of their happiness for that money as well.

A creepy idea I just had: I was checking through old posts, and I noticed that there were "repeated posts", so to speak. AKA: bringing up the same thing in different threads near verbatim. So I had this idea: To what extent could one communicate in this forum using only rehasals of his old posts? Maybe we're not that justified to mock Cleverbot's silliness.

Ha... yeah, it's been shown that once you're over a certain base level of wealth(/income), there's basically no -- or, at best, very, very little -- correlation between wealth and happiness. That level being around the point you don't really have much to worry about in terms of necessities. It's less "money brings happiness" and more "not living in poverty brings happiness." After that point, wealth isn't much of an indicator for happiness.

This is something psychology has been pretty much demonstrating for decades now :P

When it comes to money and happiness it is best to be in the middle. Too little money and you can't afford a pleasant lifestyle, making you a miserable bastard. Too much money and the stress of having and maintaining such a massive quantity of money eats at your mind endlessly, making you a miserable bastard. Having enough money to live in a relatively comfortable fashion without grinding your mental capacity to dust will make you happiest.

When you have massive amounts of money, you can hire professionals to manage and mantain your money for you.

Though if you still feel like you have too much money, there are very many people who would be willing to help you with that in other ways :P
