Although I haven't played Minecraft recently, I had the urge to write a short poem about it. My poetry skill needs the dust wiped off of it anyways!
I would love to hear what you guys think of it. It took me about an hour to complete, although I could add some filler verses to help flesh it out!
---------------------------------------------------------
As morning breaks, the sun does shine,
On steep mounts etched and carved upright;
From plains of block, in which we mine
To singe the skin and bone of night.
In refuge under sunlight's beams,
The day's events pass quickly on;
To give us time to craft, it seems,
Until our time outside is done.
The eyes of spiders dim to gray,
Dormant, and prepared to feast;
'Till softly on horizons lay,
The setting sun, and moonrise east.
Percussive tones at night resounds,
From missing life, with adept hands;
An arrow, fletched from darkened grounds,
Death swiftly dealt on whom it lands.
Or ever-constant in the fore,
The moans of restless, rotting flesh;
Doomed to search, forevermore,
To sate their needs for victims fresh.
And as the din of night cries out,
A quiet movement stirs the air;
A glimpse of faces, all that pout,
And wait to grin at final flare.
Until the morning dawns once more,
In our caves or homes we hide;
With hopes to live long and explore,
To do that which we've never tried.
